את הטענה ניתן להפריך.
נבחר

אזי בוודאי מתקיים
[math]\displaystyle{ \lim_{n\rightarrow \infty} a_n=0 }[/math]
אבל
[math]\displaystyle{ \sum_{n=1}^{\infty} (-1)^{n+1} a_n=\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}(-1)^{2n+2}\frac{1}{n}=\sum_{n=1}^{\infty}\frac{1}{n} }[/math]
