אם [math]\displaystyle{ f\in D^n (a,b) }[/math] ו- [math]\displaystyle{ x_0\in (a,b) }[/math] אזי
[math]\displaystyle{ R_n(x)=f(x)-P_n(x)=o((x-x_0)^n),x\to x_0 }[/math]
הוכחה.
הוכחה באינדוקציה. עבור [math]\displaystyle{ n=1 }[/math] ראינו מהגדרת הנגזרת והדיפרנציאל ש- [math]\displaystyle{ f(x)=f(x_0)+f'(x_0)(x-x_0)+o(x-x_0),x\to x_0 }[/math]
כעת נניח שהטענה נכונה עבור [math]\displaystyle{ n-1 }[/math] כלשהו ונוכיח עבור [math]\displaystyle{ n }[/math]:
\begin{displaymjx}\lim_{x\to x_0} \frac{f(x)-\sum_{k=0}^n \frac{f^{(k)}(x_0)}{k!}(x-x_0)^k}{(x-x_0)^n}=\{L'hospital\}=\lim_{x\to x_0} \frac{f'(x)-\sum_{k=1}^{n} \frac{f^{(k)}(x_0)}{(k-1)!}(x-x_0)^{k-1}}{n(x-x_0)^{n-1}} =\end{displaymjx} \begin{displaymjx}\frac{1}{n} \cdot \lim_{x\to x_0} \frac{f'(x)-\sum_{k=0}^{n-1} \frac{f^{(k+1)}(x_0)}{k!}(x-x_0)^k}{(x-x_0)^{n-1}}= \frac{1}{n} \cdot \lim_{x\to x_0} \frac{f'(x)-\sum_{k=0}^{n-1} \frac{f'^{k}(x_0)}{k!}(x-x_0)^k}{(x-x_0)^{n-1}}\end{displaymjx}
אבל [math]\displaystyle{ f' \in D^{n-1}(a,b) }[/math] ולכן מקיימת את הנחת הנחת האינדוקציה ולפי הנחה זו הגבול שקיבלנו הוא [math]\displaystyle{ 0 }[/math] .
