משפט
נניח [math]\displaystyle{ f:(a,b)\to (c,d) , g:(c,d)\to \mathbb{R} }[/math] נסמן את [math]\displaystyle{ h=g\circ f }[/math] כלומר [math]\displaystyle{ h(x)=g(f(x)) }[/math] . אם [math]\displaystyle{ f }[/math] דיפרנציאבילית ב- [math]\displaystyle{ x_0 }[/math] ו- [math]\displaystyle{ g }[/math] דיפרנציאבילית ב- [math]\displaystyle{ f(x_0) }[/math] אזי [math]\displaystyle{ h }[/math] דיפרנציאבילית ב- [math]\displaystyle{ x_0 }[/math] ומתקיים: (הצורות שקולות)
[math]\displaystyle{ h'(x_0)=g'(f(x_0))\cdot f'(x_0) }[/math]
[math]\displaystyle{ \frac{dh}{dx} (x_0) = \frac{dg}{df} (f(x_0))\cdot \frac{df}{dx} (x_0) }[/math]
אם הכתיב האחרון נראה לכם מוזר ועושה לכם כאב ראש, אל תדאגו, זה בעיקר בשביל הפיזיקאים, אבל בכל מקרה הנה דוגמה:
אם נגדיר [math]\displaystyle{ g(u)=\sin u }[/math] אבל [math]\displaystyle{ u(x)=x^2 }[/math] אז הנגזרת של [math]\displaystyle{ h(x)=g(u(x))=\sin x^2 }[/math] היא [math]\displaystyle{ \frac{dg}{du} (u(x))\cdot \frac{du}{dx} }[/math] אבל [math]\displaystyle{ \frac{dg}{du}=\cos u }[/math] ו- [math]\displaystyle{ \frac{du}{dx}=2x }[/math] ולכן סך הכל נקבל \begin{displaymjx}\cos (u(x)) \cdot 2x = \cos (x^2) \cdot 2x\end{displaymjx}
הוכחה.
ידוע ש-
\begin{displaymjx}f(x_0+t)=f(x_0)+f'(x_0) t + \epsilon_1(t)\cdot t\end{displaymjx} כש- [math]\displaystyle{ \epsilon_1(t)\underset{t\to 0}{\longrightarrow} 0 }[/math] ובנוסף, \begin{displaymjx}g(y_0+s)=g(y_0)+g'(y_0) s + \epsilon_2(s)\cdot s\end{displaymjx} כש- [math]\displaystyle{ \epsilon_2(s) \underset{s\to 0} {\longrightarrow} 0 }[/math] . לכן:
\begin{displaymjx}h(x_0+t)=g((f(x_0+t))=g\left (f(x_0)+f'(x_0) t + \epsilon_1(t)\cdot t\right )=\end{displaymjx} \begin{displaymjx}g(f(x_0))+g'(f(x_0))(f'(x_0) t + \epsilon_1(t)\cdot t)+\epsilon_2 (f'(x_0) t + \epsilon_1 (t))\cdot (f'(x_0) t + \epsilon_1 (t))=\end{displaymjx} \begin{displaymjx}g(f(x_0))+g'(f(x_0))\cdot f'(x_0) \cdot t + o(t)_{t\to 0} \Rightarrow (g(f(x)))'(x_0)=g'(f(x_0))\cdot f'(x_0)\end{displaymjx}
∎
מסקנה
הנגזרת של [math]\displaystyle{ x^\alpha }[/math] היא [math]\displaystyle{ \alpha x^{\alpha - 1} }[/math], גם אם [math]\displaystyle{ \alpha \not\in\mathbb{N} }[/math]
הוכחה.
\begin{displaymjx}(x^\alpha)'=(e^{\alpha \ln x})'=(e^{\alpha \ln x})\cdot (\alpha \ln x)' = x^\alpha \cdot \alpha\cdot \frac{1}{x}=\alpha x^{\alpha - 1}\end{displaymjx}
∎
דוגמה
\begin{displaymjx}(\cos x)'=\left(\sin (\frac{\pi}{2} - x)\right)'=\cos(\frac{\pi}{2}-x)\cdot (\frac{\pi}{2}-x)' = -\cos(\frac{\pi}{2}-x) = -\sin x\end{displaymjx} [math]\displaystyle{ \Leftarrow }[/math] \begin{displaymjx}(\tan x)'=\left(\frac{\sin x}{\cos x}\right)' = \frac{(\sin x)'\cos x - \sin x (\cos x)'}{\cos^2 x} = \frac{\cos^2(x)+\sin^2(x)}{\cos^2(x)}=\frac{1}{\cos^2(x)}\end{displaymjx}
