תהיינה [math]\displaystyle{ a_n }[/math], [math]\displaystyle{ b_n }[/math] ו־[math]\displaystyle{ c_n }[/math] סדרות ממשיות כך ש [math]\displaystyle{ a_n\le b_n\le c_n }[/math] לכל [math]\displaystyle{ n\in\mathbb N }[/math], ויהי [math]\displaystyle{ L\in\mathbb R }[/math] כך ש [math]\displaystyle{ a_n\to L }[/math] ו־[math]\displaystyle{ c_n\to L }[/math]. אזי [math]\displaystyle{ b_n\to L }[/math].
תהיינה [math]\displaystyle{ a_n }[/math] ו־[math]\displaystyle{ b_n }[/math] סדרות ממשיות כך ש [math]\displaystyle{ |a_n|\le b_n }[/math] לכל [math]\displaystyle{ n\in\mathbb N }[/math] ו־[math]\displaystyle{ b_n\to0 }[/math].

חשבו את הגבול [math]\displaystyle{ \lim_{n\to\infty}\sqrt[n]{2^n+3^n} }[/math].
לכל [math]\displaystyle{ n\in\mathbb N }[/math] מתקיים [math]\displaystyle{ 3^n\le 2^n+3^n\le 3^n+3^n=2\cdot 3^n }[/math], ולכן, מהוצאת שורש [math]\displaystyle{ n }[/math]־י משלושת האגפים (הוצאת שורש שומרת על אי־שוויון בין מספרים אי־שליליים), [math]\displaystyle{ 3=\sqrt[n]{3^n}\le\sqrt[n]{2^n+3^n} }[/math] [math]\displaystyle{ \le\sqrt[n]{2\cdot 3^n}=3\sqrt[n]{2} }[/math] לכל [math]\displaystyle{ n\in\mathbb N }[/math]. באותה דרך בדיוק, לכל [math]\displaystyle{ a,b\ge0 }[/math] מתקיים [math]\displaystyle{ \sqrt[n]{a^n+b^n}\to\max\{a,b\} }[/math]: הגורם הגדול "בולע" את הקטן.

חשבו את הגבול [math]\displaystyle{ \lim_{n\to\infty}\Big(\frac1{\sqrt{n^2+1}}+\frac1{\sqrt{n^2+2}} }[/math] [math]\displaystyle{ +\cdots+\frac1{\sqrt{n^2+n}}\Big) }[/math].
נסמן [math]\displaystyle{ b_n=\frac1{\sqrt{n^2+1}}+\cdots+\frac1{\sqrt{n^2+n}} }[/math]. לכל [math]\displaystyle{ 1\le k\le n }[/math] מתקיים [math]\displaystyle{ n^2+1\le n^2+k\le n^2+n }[/math], ולכן [math]\displaystyle{ \frac1{\sqrt{n^2+n}}\le\frac1{\sqrt{n^2+k}}\le\frac1{\sqrt{n^2+1}} }[/math]. נחליף כל אחד מ־[math]\displaystyle{ n }[/math] המחוברים במחובר הגדול ביותר, ובנפרד במחובר הקטן ביותר ([math]\displaystyle{ n\cdot\min\le\sum\le n\cdot\max }[/math]): [math]\displaystyle{ \frac{n}{\sqrt{n^2+n}}\le b_n\le\frac{n}{\sqrt{n^2+1}} }[/math] לכל [math]\displaystyle{ n\in\mathbb N }[/math]. נסמן [math]\displaystyle{ a_n=\frac{n}{\sqrt{n^2+n}} }[/math] ו־[math]\displaystyle{ c_n=\frac{n}{\sqrt{n^2+1}} }[/math]. כעת [math]\displaystyle{ c_n=\frac1{\sqrt{1+\frac1{n^2}}}\to\frac1{\sqrt{1+0}}=1 }[/math] (חילקנו מונה ומכנה ב־[math]\displaystyle{ n=\sqrt{n^2} }[/math], ואז אריתמטיקה של גבולות ושורש של גבול), ובאופן דומה [math]\displaystyle{ a_n=\frac1{\sqrt{1+\frac1n}}\to1 }[/math]. מתקיים [math]\displaystyle{ a_n\le b_n\le c_n }[/math] לכל [math]\displaystyle{ n\in\mathbb N }[/math] ושתי הסדרות החוסמות שואפות ל־[math]\displaystyle{ 1 }[/math], ולכן לפי משפט הסנדביץ' [math]\displaystyle{ \lim_{n\to\infty}b_n=1 }[/math].

הוכיחו כי [math]\displaystyle{ \frac1{\sqrt1}+\frac1{\sqrt2}+\cdots+\frac1{\sqrt n}\to\infty }[/math].
נסמן [math]\displaystyle{ b_n=\frac1{\sqrt1}+\frac1{\sqrt2}+\cdots+\frac1{\sqrt n} }[/math]. לכל [math]\displaystyle{ 1\le k\le n }[/math] מתקיים [math]\displaystyle{ \sqrt k\le\sqrt n }[/math], ולכן [math]\displaystyle{ \frac1{\sqrt k}\ge\frac1{\sqrt n} }[/math]. נגדיר [math]\displaystyle{ a_n=\sqrt n }[/math]. אזי [math]\displaystyle{ a_n\le b_n }[/math] לכל [math]\displaystyle{ n\in\mathbb N }[/math]. נראה לפי ההגדרה ש [math]\displaystyle{ a_n\to\infty }[/math]: יהי [math]\displaystyle{ M>0 }[/math]. לפי ארכימדס קיים [math]\displaystyle{ K\in\mathbb N }[/math] כך ש [math]\displaystyle{ K>M^2 }[/math], ולכל [math]\displaystyle{ n>K }[/math] מתקיים [math]\displaystyle{ n>K>M^2 }[/math], ולכן [math]\displaystyle{ \sqrt n>\sqrt{M^2}=M }[/math] (הוצאת שורש שומרת על אי־שוויון בין מספרים אי־שליליים, ו־[math]\displaystyle{ M>0 }[/math]).

חשבו את הגבול [math]\displaystyle{ \lim_{n\to\infty}\frac{1\sin1+2\sin2+\cdots+n\sin n}{n^3} }[/math].
נסמן [math]\displaystyle{ a_n=\frac{1\sin1+2\sin2+\cdots+n\sin n}{n^3} }[/math]. [math]\displaystyle{ |a_n|=\frac{|1\sin1+\cdots+n\sin n|}{n^3} }[/math] [math]\displaystyle{ \le\frac{1|\sin1|+\cdots+n|\sin n|}{n^3} }[/math] [math]\displaystyle{ \le\frac{1+2+\cdots+n}{n^3}=\frac{n(n+1)}{2n^3} }[/math]. כיוון ש [math]\displaystyle{ n+1\le2n }[/math] לכל [math]\displaystyle{ n\in\mathbb N }[/math], מתקיים [math]\displaystyle{ \frac{n(n+1)}{2n^3}\le\frac{n^2}{n^3}=\frac1n }[/math]. נגדיר [math]\displaystyle{ b_n=\frac1n }[/math]. אזי [math]\displaystyle{ |a_n|\le b_n }[/math] לכל [math]\displaystyle{ n\in\mathbb N }[/math] ו־[math]\displaystyle{ b_n\to0 }[/math], ולכן לפי חצי סנדביץ' על הרצפה [math]\displaystyle{ a_n\to0 }[/math]. אותו רעיון בגרסה הקטנה ביותר: [math]\displaystyle{ \left|\frac{\sin n}{n}\right|\le\frac1n\to0 }[/math], ולכן [math]\displaystyle{ \frac{\sin n}{n}\to0 }[/math].
